Wall Removal & Open-Concept Remodeling in Bellevue, Redmond & Kirkland

Many Eastside homes built from the 1970s through the 1990s have closed-off kitchens and formal rooms that don’t fit how families live today. Opening them up is one of the biggest changes you can make to a home. It’s also structural work, which means it has to be engineered, permitted and built correctly. Pure Construction handles all of it, working with our preferred architects and structural engineers.

What’s included

  • Load-bearing and non-load-bearing wall removal

  • Beam and post installation

  • Coordination with structural engineers and architects

  • Rerouting plumbing, electrical and HVAC from removed walls

  • Floor patching and transitions so the new space looks original

  • Finish work: drywall, trim, paint and lighting

Our process

  1. Walkthrough. We look at the walls you want gone and what’s likely running through them.

  2. Engineering. A structural engineer sizes the beams and posts and confirms how the load will be carried.

  3. Permits. We handle the permit, since structural changes require one.

  4. Shoring, demo and beam installation. We support the structure, remove the wall and install the new beam.

  5. Systems, inspections and finish work. Then a final walkthrough together.

How long does an open-concept remodel take?

Engineering and permits usually take three to eight weeks. Construction typically takes three to six weeks for wall removal on its own, and longer when it’s combined with a kitchen or whole-home remodel. You’ll get a timeline before we start.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if a wall is load-bearing?
You can’t always tell from the outside. We check on site and confirm with a structural engineer.

Can the beam be hidden in the ceiling?
Often, yes. A flush beam sits inside the ceiling line, depending on the span and framing. We’ll go over the options with you.

What about pipes or wires inside the wall?
We reroute plumbing, electrical and ductwork as part of the job.
